KARNATAKA BIOTECHNOLOGY AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES (KBITS), a society duly registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 and is involved in the promotion of the Information Technology and Biotechnology sectors in Karnataka, through the formulation of policies and guidelines and enablement of infrastructural development. The Government of Karnataka has under its Karnataka Start-up Policy 2015-2020 provided the framework for provision of grants and operation of technology business incubators through its Operational Guidelines and Application Format for Technology Business Incubators. The Guidelines detail the particulars and conditions for provision of grants to technology business incubators towards financing their purchase and provision of equipment and facilities to Technology Start-ups as well as their operational expenses.
The Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, under the Government of Karnataka has provided KBITS with the mandate to implement and operationalise the Scheme. KBITS, in furtherance of the Mandate and the Policy, implemented the Technology Business Incubator programme, with the Programme involving the provision of support and grants to establish technology business incubators providing incubation services to Technology Start-ups on pay and use basis. The institution-RUAS has been evaluated and recommended by the State Expert Advisory Committee on Innovation, Incubation and Technology Entrepreneurship (SEAC) under the Government of Karnataka. The SEAC has accepted and approved the application made by RTBI for carrying out its Proposal and participating in the Programme.
Ramaiah –GoK TBI is a not for profit entity established by Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) through its Ramaiah Technology Business Incubator (RTBI) under Indian Trusts Act, 1882 having registration number YPR-4-00315-2017-18 dated 22-01-2018. RUAS has agreed to aid in financing and coordinating TBI’s activities and operations. TBI proposes to provide incubation services to novel and selected start-ups operating in and contributing to sectors including but not limited to IoT, ESDM, Robotics and Intelligent Systems (“Technology Start-ups”).
