Annual Athletic Meet-2016
The 3rd annual athletic meet of RUAS was held on Saturday 19th November, 2016 in GEF (CITRA )Ground, M S R Nagara Bangalore. The Chief Guest for the inauguration program was Mr. Shivananda, IA, International Athlete and Ekalavya Awardee .The inauguration program began with an invocation from Ms. Mouna, 3rd year EEE student,followed by the University flag hoisting by the Chief Guest and March Past of athletes. The welcome speech was given by Mr. Dayananda D B Sports Manager, after which the Torch Run was conducted. The Chief Guest in his address exhorted all the students to devote some time to physical fitness and sports which would lead to physical and mental development of the human body. . The Oath was taken by Mr. Mohammed Safwan behalf of all the participants. Later the President of the function, Vice Chancellor Prof.Shankapal gave the presidential address and mentioned that excellent sports facility and infrastructure will be created for University students.After which the meet was declared open by the Chief Guest. The inauguration program concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Mr. Kumar, Manager Sports . The role of MC was performed by Ms. Anusha Student of M.Com final year. The events included sprints and middle distance running for students like 100 mts, 200 mts, 400 mts, 800 mts, 1500mts, , 4 x 100 mts relay, 4 x 400 mts relay and field events like shot put, discus, javelin, long jump, high jump and triple jump. For staff the events included 50 mts (for women) 100 mts (for men), shot put, discus, sac race, hitting the wicket and tug of war. The Best Athlete Male was Mr. Manoj kumar S from B Pharm 3rd year and Best Athlete Female was Ms. Ashwini B D S 2nd year. The overall champions for the rolling trophy were Faculty of Dental sciences with 79 points. A special thanks to the external officials for officiating the events and RUAS staff Mr. Abhilash BS, Mr. Gautham, Mr. Rakesh C, Dr. Mahesha Narayana, Dr. Chandan Kumar, Dr. Deepak , Mr. Arun R , Asha Rao, DR Shivnarayan, Mr. Divyakiran, Dr. Arun Rao, Dr. Sanjay Lakshminarayana, Mr Abdul Imraan Rashid, Mr. Hemantha Kumar , Sudha BA and Manjula for first Aid, any names might have been omitted by oversight and all SPWCA staff who have worked tirelessly to make the meet a success.
Inter Faculty Table Tennis & Chess Tournament Conducted
The final of the inter faculty table tennis and chess tournament for students was conducted on 30th April 2016 in Gnanagangothri campus. The preliminaries were held in the respective campuses. In table tennis the first place was secured by Sachin Kulkarni from FET and second place by Yusuf MD Nasir Khan from FDS amongst boys while in the girls section the first place was secured by Tanisha Raout from FDS and second place by Vandana from FDS. In chess the first place was secured by Abhishek Hegde from FET and second place by Rajeev from FMC.
Inter Faculty Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament
Inter Faculty Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament was held on 23rd and 24th April 2016 in MSR ground. Eleven teams participated in the tournament. The matches were played on knock out basis with 8 overs a side. The FMC B team were the Winners while the Runners were FPH B Team. Trophies, medals and certificates were given to both the teams.
Inter Faculty Volleyball & Throw Ball Tournament Conducted
Inter faculty volley ball tournament for boys and throw ball tournament for girls was conducted in Peenya campus on 3rd April 2016. Six teams for volleyball and three teams for throw ball entered the fray. The team from FET (Civil) were the winners and FET (EEE) were runners in volleyball. In throw ball, FET A team stood first while the team from FDS were the runners. Trophies, medals and certificates were distributed to the winners and runners. Simultaneously, University teams were also selected for both the games.
Football Team Participates in Inter College/University Tournament
MSRUAS football team participated in Rukmini Memorial Cup inter college/university football tournament organized by Reva University, Bangalore on 30 March 2016. Our team was drawn to play the match against Aditya College, Bangalore. The team put up a valiant fight till the end of regular time and held the opponent to a goalless draw. However in the penalty shootout, even though our team was leading after the first two kicks, they lost 3-4 after the last two kicks went off target. Our best wishes for the team for making a good beginning and wish them success in future tournaments.
Inter Faculty Basketball Tournament
The inter faculty basketball tournament for boys and girls was held on 19th March 2016 in MSRIT Basketball Court. A total of 3 boys’ team and 2 girls’ team participated in the tournament. The boys’ team from FHMCT and girls’ team from FDS were the winners while the boys from FDS and girls from FPH were the runners. Trophies were given to the winners and runners.
Inter Faculty Football Tournament
The first inter faculty football tournament for students of MSRUAS was conducted on 12th and 13th March 2016 in MSR Ground. Six teams participated in the Tournament. The matches were held in two halves of 15 minutes each with a break of 5 minutes between the two halves. The team from FDS were the winners while the team from FET (Computer Science) were the runners. Trophies were given away to both teams. Simultaneously the University team was also formed by selecting from among the promising and talented students who participated in the tournament, to represent the University in various competitions.

The 2nd annual athletic meet of MSRUAS was held on Saturday 5th Dec. 2015 in HMT Ground, Jalahalli, Bangalore. The Chief Guest for the inauguration program was Dr. Malathi K Holla, Padmashree & Arjuna awardee and paralympian with over 400 medals in national and international competitions. The inauguration program began with an invocation from Ms. Sai Pranati, 4th year student of BDS followed by the University flag hoisting by the Chief Guest and March Past of athletes. The welcome speech was given by Ms. Archana, 1st year B Tech student after which the Torch Run was conducted. The Chief Guest addressed gathering stressing on the fact that failures are stepping stones to success and asked everybody to participate in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. The Oath was taken by Mr. Vikranth, B Tech 2nd year on behalf of all the participants. Later the President and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Govind R Kadambi gave the presidential address after which the meet was declared open by the Chief Guest. The inauguration program concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Mr. Dayananda DB, Manager Sports & Athletic (HSG). The role of MC was performed by Ms. Divyanshi Sinha and Ms. Saumya Mishra, BDS 2nd year students. Congratulations to Girls Table Tennis Team from Faculty of Dental Sciences
The girls’ table tennis team comprising Ms. Pragati Mody, Ms. Megha Mangala and Ms. Sneha Shenoy from Faculty of Dental Sciences were Runners Up in the RGUHS, Bengaluru Zone, Ping Pong Tournament held in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College, Bengaluru on 3rd September 2015.
Cultural Fest - AKAIRA 2015
The first Cultural Fest of MSRUAS – AKAIRA 2015 was celebrated from 23rd to 25th April 2015, in our Peenya campus. Students and staff from both the campuses participated enthusiastically in great numbers making the event a grand success
The first day of the Fest began with an invocation followed by a welcome address by Director, SPWCA, Dr. Mohandas Bhat S. Student Coordinator, Mr. Shivaprasad, gave the overall glimse of the Fest.. This was followed by the traditional Lighting of the Lamp. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. S R Shankapal, who graced the occasion kept his speech very short and asked the students to enjoy themselves for the next three days. The inauguration program concluded after the rendition of the National Anthem.
Altogether 27 events were conducted over a period of three days that included both on stage and off stage events. The on stage events included Classical singing (Solo, Duet Group), Non-classical singing (Solo, Duet, Group), Indian dance (Solo, Duet, Group), Western dance (Solo, Duet, Group), Antakshari (Kannada & Hindi), Quiz, Radio Jock, Debate, Extempore speech, Movie spoof, Scavenger hunt, Mad ads, Air crash, Fashion show. The off stage events included Rangoli, Flower arrangement, Collage, Cooking without fire, Nail art, Face painting, Mehendi, Sketching, Best out of waste, Street play, Creative writing, Gaming, Spot photography.
The valedictory function was held on the final day and prizes distributed to all the winners. Prof. Saraswati G Rao, Academic Registrar, presided over the occasion. Vote of Thanks was proposed by Director, SPWCA. The Fest ended with a DJ Night which was a huge hit among the students.
A special thanks to Mr. B S Abhilash, Senior Tutor, FAD, with his committed team of staff and student volunteers, who took upon the challenge to coordinate the Fest at the last moment and conducting it smoothly. The contributions of various staff and student coordinators of individual events in the success of the Fest is greatly appreciated.

Annual Athletics Meet - 2014
Novemeber 28 th ,2014 was celebrated as 1st annual Athletics Meet of the University.
Staff and students of All faculties were Gathered at HMT ground . They were all in different mood and frame of mind from their day to day academic activities. The full ground was flooding and buzzing with enthusiastic students and staff and enjoying the every moment.
Full ground was filled with the spirit of competition, co operation and collaboration among all staff and student to make the event grand success.
Mr. Arun D’Souza –an eminent International Athlete was the chief guest .He guided march past , torch run ,oath taking and declared the athletic meet open . He inspired the audience with his highly motivating speech. Our Pro.Vice Chancellor - HSG,Professor D.C . Sunderesh was the Guest of Honor and advised the gathering to enjoy the sports and wished the participants success in the meet. Our Pro-Vice Chancellor – SEG, Professor Govind R Kadambi in his presidential address narrated the benefits of taking part in sports and games activities and said about importance of loosing for ultimate success.
Ms.Anusuya student of 1st year MSc Mathematics did the invocation, followed by Dr. Mohandas Bhat – Director – SPWCA welcoming the gathering. Mr. Arup Bhattacharya – Chief Manager HR co ordinate the inaugural function and introduce the chief Guest.
Inaugural function was concluded with Vote of thanks by G M Kumar – Sports Manager.
Sports events were conducted successfully with enthusiastic participation of students and staff. Whole day was filled with competition in track and field events for both staff and students . Students participated in very large numbers beyond expectation and staff proved that they are not behind.
Dr. Bhat concluded the event by declaring the event closed.
Communal Harmony and National Integration @ FDS
Cultural Program 25th of November 2014 (Wednesday). The program started at 10:00AM with Dr.R.Ranadheer (Assistant Professor, Dept. of PHD) welcoming the students and dignitaries and throwing light on Communal Harmony and National Integration. The message was further spread in form of songs by Dr.Shwetha (Assistant Professor, Dept. of OMDR) and Ms. Sai Pranathi (Third year BDS student). Communal Harmony and Unity, was well depicted by the role-play performed by Dr. Lavanya. Dr.Soumya, Dr.Ramya, Dr.Amatul, Dr.Siddharth, Dr.Abdur (Interns, FDS, MSRUAS). Dr. Srinivas Murthy, Principal, MSRUAS, FDS congratulated the students, appreciated the show put by NSS Wing, Department of Public Health Dentistry and the team of Programme Operations headed by Mr. Jesudass Anthoney (Manager, Programme Operations) for excellent multimedia support . The Principal also felicitated the two best collage teams. Dr.R. Ranadheer delivered the vote of thanks.

Tarang 2014 a cultural extravaganza was unveiled on 10th, 11th .12 April 2014.The events commenced with an exuberant Inauguration by the most acclaimed, gorgeous yet talented in the film industry Smt Vinaya Prasad. The ethnic theme on day one saw all the students, staff and participants in Indian attire. The off stage events began with the rangoli competition with bright colors spread all over it was a heaven on earth.
The day two was declared as disco masquerades and all students were found dressed to suit the occasion. It was indeed a talent search among the professionals .each one of them were brimming with joy and high spirits of competition. The on stage events began with singing which included group singing , solo singing both in Indian , western and folk category. The most awaited dance competition lit the fire on stage with colorful costumes, scintillating music and sizzling movements by the participants.
Day three was the deep blue theme wherein all students adhered too and were seen in the serene blue attire, it was a feast to the eyes. The most awaited fashion show was mind blowing with the excellent theme in respective costumes. Students swayed on the ramp gracefully with confidence and portrayed the chosen theme, the spectacular show ended with a grand finale.
All Work and No Play Makes Jack A Dull Boy, a famous idiom which is so true in the present day. As part of extracurricular activities, MSRUAS conducts annual cultural and sports day. The university calls this as ASCENT. Where the students and staff participate in various activities and get an opportunity to show case their talents. The events span for two days with various programmes including traditional and ethnic programmes. MSRUAS has not just native home students but also international students who participate and showcase their culture and tradition. This sets the platform for a cultural and tradition exchange among the students. The sports day has major indoor and outdoor activities covered.
At the end of the day the staff and students get involved in the treasure hunt, which is a mega event. The event is concluded with prize distribution by the respected Vice Chancellor of the university.
